Three Ways to Feature a Facebook Fan Page Post

There are three ways you can draw more attention to a specific post on your Facebook Business Page if you would like to make sure more people see it or make that one post more prominent on your Page.

1 – Click on the star on the top right of that post. This will “highlight” it which really means to make that post span the width of both Timeline columns. This makes it more visible and noticaable and if it is a photo or graphic it allows you to see the whole image.

2 – Click on the little pencil on the top right and click on Pin to Top. This makes that one post “sticky” to the top of your Timeline for a period of 7 days. You can repin it after 7 days to keep it at the top, or if you want to take it down click on the pencil again to Unpin it. You can tell a post is pinned by the little bookmark icon that appears on the top right of the post. This is visible by all.

3 – If you have at least 400 likes/fans on your business Page you will see a Promote button by the posting button. Click it and you can choose to pay a small fee, $5.00+ to have your post seen by more of your existing fans/likes. Since Facebook’s Edge Rank algorithm will sometimes mean that not all your fans see your posts in their news feed, this will help boost your “reach” to be seen by people who do not normally see your posts. I use these for promotional posts only since theoretically I will earn the investment back, and I have each time.

Have you used any of these features?

Great tips, thanks! I have heard of highlighting a post, and I’ve done that, but didn’t know about the ‘pin to the top’. Will definitely try that. I’m very early in my social media experience for business. I wish FB would not limit who can see our posts! When I get enough fans I’ll look into your tip #3, but is that $5 per post…? THANKS AGAIN!! 😀

Yes I am in a love-hate relationship with FB right now but it’s mostly love! 🙂 Thanks for your comment. The $5 would be for just that one post!
